The lounge’s founder, Cathy Bouchard, brings an inspiring background to the business. Once an internationally recognized artist whose work reached over 50 countries and appeared in TV shows and films, Cathy’s journey took a sharp turn after personal loss and chronic illness left her bedridden.
“I was in a dark place. I had fibromyalgia, was completely debilitated, and had lost my sense of purpose,” Cathy shares. “But during that time, I started reading about ancient civilizations, which led me to discover how the Mayans and Aztecs used cacao for health and rituals.”
That fascination sparked years of research and eventually turned into a passion project that changed her life—and the lives of countless customers.
The Power of Cacao
Cathy’s dedication to learning about cacao went far beyond curiosity. She explored its origins, studied its nutritional value, and eventually became a speaker, delivering more than 350 seminars on cruise ships, in wellness centers, and to healthcare professionals.
She’s quick to point out the difference between cacao and the commonly mistaken “cocoa.”
“People always get that wrong. Cacao is the real deal. Cocoa is what happens after it’s been heavily processed,” Cathy explains. “I’ve been eating a small piece of real chocolate every day for over 20 years. My eyesight’s improved, and I haven’t had a sick day—aside from pneumonia once—in all that time.”
